It seems weird and wrong to recommend a 30-minute animation that tells 3/4rds of a story… but I wouldn’t do it if Spice Frontier – Escape from Veltegar wasn’t worth every minute.
Steamroller Stories has put together a wonderfully animated, perfectly voiced sci-fi adventure that is both family-friendly and exciting.
It’s a great story, told well with excellent pacing. I think the characters come to life quickly, well and that they avoid tropes.
The behind-the-scenes is equally as interesting because the studio has a new Unreal Engine technique to produce the animation. They’re calling it a “technological framework”. I’m not entirely sure I know exactly what trick they’re pulling, but Spice Frontier most certainly does not resemble Machinima.
The pitch is in the YouTube description of the animation. The pilot episode above serves as a calling card, and Steamroller Stories is seeking investment and partners.
The cast includes Zach Cipriano as Kentucky Williams, Madison Lee as C-LA, Kiera Please as Ada, Bruce P. Barker as Eloy, and Emily Stockdale as Mod.
